1. Is there a CD/DVD in the drive?

2. Is the BIOS set to boot from the HDDs first?

3. Is there a firmware update for your SSD available?

4. Is "fast boot" enabled in BIOS (if it has such a thing).

5. Is it running a memory test at POST?

6. If you have a 2nd HDD, is it starting to fail - check it's smart table, or scan for bad sectors.

7. Re-set BIOS to defaults and try that.

8. Is "network boot" enabled in BIOS (if it has that feature).

....just a few suggestions.

I have an aurora same bios version, total boot time is prob about 30 secs at which time im at the login screen. Yours seems a little out of the ordinary. Since its the bios screen that is taking the time im guessing your PC is having a hard time detecting a piece of hardware in your computer.

Are the USB mouse and keyboard using USB ports on the rear of the PC? If your monitor has a USB uplink cable connected to the PC, disconnect the USB uplink cable from the PC and time a cold boot up.

I could time mine (for comparison) but I suggest timing sections.

also chris could there be something wrong with my cpu cooler? my idles are ok but it seems like my temps SHOOT up under load and i even have a push pull setup. I'm seeing much lower load temps from other people

both the mouse and keyboard are connected to the back of the computer. hd is the first boot device. no cd in drive.

Try what Tesla suggested and time how long it takes :

Power button turn on:
Time to initialize BIOS

Time for Bios screen to even appear: 20 secs
Time for progress bar to go all the way across: 20 secs
- Total time to initialize BIOS: 40 secs
* Windows Boot loader screen - Select Partition
* Starting Windows screen appears
- Time to load Windows to Logon Screen: 15 secs
- Time to usable desktop with everything loaded: 35 secs

I would say that the total time to boot the machine is 90 secs.

All my USB and Firewire ports are used up (but some devices are turned off). I count 9 apps in the SysTray. Of those, I would say AW-CC and MS-Security Essentials take the most resources and time to load. Task Manager says I have 80 processes running (at idle).

I have pretty much the same scenario with a standard Aurora as above except only keyb/mouse connected to rear USB and very slow BIOS boot (about 35-40 secs as Tesla has stated- seems very slow for such a beast of a machine, no?). Would have expected much lower BIOS load time.

I am awaiting delivery of a SSD to go in my beloved AW machine, but seems my super fast boot time that I expected will be slowed down by snails pace BIOS load times?!

Is there any way to speed up BIOS load time? Couldn't see any settings for fast POST, to disable POST or to disable memory testing or any such shortcuts I have had on past machines, the best I could do was disable other boot devices and have my HDD as fist device to boot (maybe shaved off a second or 2?)- surely there are other settings but none to be found in the BIOS I could see???

Suggestions anyone please?
