Can the Alienware Command Center be installed on a non Alienware operating system?
I recently purchased an Alienware Aurora R4 tower only with all of the equipment inside except the hard drive, and the hard drive caddies. I have since installed a hard drive (loose bc I still do not have a caddy) and loaded a fresh copy of Windows 7 Professional. (Note this is not the Alienware version of the operating system but rather the standard Microsoft version.)
The machine is now up and running beautifully, except I do not have any of the case effect lights working. It is my understanding that this is all controlled by the Allienware command center, but when I try to install it, I get an error message saying that thy system isn’t compatible. I assume this is because of the operating system.
Is it possible to install this software and make the light effects work on a non Alienware operating system?

Try v3.6.x like Rodrigo says first. It should work.
If it won't install, try v2.8.9.0 or v2.8.11.0 (this might mean it's not really an Aurora-R4).
2. Yes, it should work. It just needs a working version of Windows-7, however, it must be 64-bit. Some came with Windows-8 64bit. All Auroras come with a Windows license (as long as it has a Dell motherboard).

Unfortunately I still get the same error. It starts the installation process and then it says...
"The installation package is not compatible with this platform."
I must be doing something wrong, but I have no idea what.
1. What version of (non-Dell OEM) Windows did you install?
2. Is it specifically 64-bit?
3. Does your Aurora-R4 have it's original Dell/Alienware motherboard?
4. What version of Command Center are you trying to install on your Aurora-R4?

2. Yes this is a 64 bit installation
3. I thought that it was the original motherboard, but now I'm not sure. The primary motherboard is an ASUS, is this the original board?
4. I have tried a few different versions, with the one Rodrigo suggested last.
I'm starting to think my motherboard maybe the issue here.
Ok so now after doing some research I have discovered that this is not the original motherboard to this machine...
So I will modify my question. Is there a version of command center that works on an aftermarket motherboard that does not take a bunch of registry modification?

2. Good. No problem there.
3. Must be Alienware motherboard for trouble-free AW-CC install. If anything, you might see MSI, Alienware or Dell written on it. Definitely not Asus.

Hi,
Try using this version and let us know if you still get the same error message when trying to install it.
