Why does Dell/ Alienware have terrible customer service?
Hello all!
So on 6/9/15 I ordered an Alienware 13 and I was really excited!
I checked my order status a few times a week and it kept saying in production. No big deal I know some things take time. Then on 6/18/15 I received an email stating that my item had been shipped. I was happy to see the update so I checked the Fed ex website to get an ETA. Once I checked my tracking number I thought it was odd that the status only said label created with no further information.
Well I checked the site periodically over the weekend with no changes. I thought it would be a good idea to double check the Dell website just to be sure I hadn't misread anything.
Here is where the "fun" began. The website showed an ETA of 6/20/15 which was 2 days ago. I called Fed ex to see if there was a possible error with their website. Once I got a hold of sokeone, she informed me that the product never made it to Fed ex and that I should contact the shipper.
I gave Dell a jingle and the first person I spoke with apologized and told me they would look into it and give me a call back in a couple of hours. After a couple of hours I got impatient and logged on to the Dell customer support chat on their website. In this conversation I was told that the Dell system shows that my package was already delivered and for further information I would need to call customer support, so I did.
I spoke to 3-4 people. The first person told me it would take 24 hours to give me an answer to where my laptop was and they would contact me the following day. This was not acceptable so I asked to speak with a supervisor and he gave me pretty much the same answer in a harsher way. Neither of these two gave me any real indication to where my product was. I was then transferred to cancellations since no one knew where my shipment could be found. After giving this gentleman all of my information he informs me that my "laptop is in Asia and should arrive in the U.S. tonight" He transferred me to another rep who told me the same thing and that I should know something tomorrow.
So after all of that time and energy I am still in the same place, no idea where my product is that cost me a thousand dollars.
This will be the last product I ever buy from Dell and I will be sure to let everyone I know how terrible their customer service is.
On top of all of the confusion everyone I spoke with was in India and we're hard to understand.
If anyone is interested I have all of the calls recorded and the support chat screenshots.
Thanks for reading this and I hope your experience was better than mine. I was so excited about getting this laptop
