BIOS Memory
I just replaced two, 64MB RDRAM, PC 600 RIMMs in slots 1 & 2 with two, 256MB RDRAM, PC 800 RIMMs. I did not touch the two continuity modules in slots 3 & 4. Upon booting up, I selected F2 in order to see if the memory line had changed. Oh,my yes! It now read 640MB RDRAM. I selected "enter" and it produced a new amplification window. This widow informed me that my Channel Speed was 300 MHz and that RIMMs 1 & 2 contained 4 devices each of 64 capacity, and that RIMMs 3 & 4 contained 16 devices each of 256 capacity.(WRONG!)
The math is correct(640 total MB) but the information isn't. It should be 512MB total with RIMMs 1 & 2 containing the 16-256 info. I am also wondering if the Channel Speed should be 400 MHz if only the new PC 800 modules were being recognized. Any thoughts or help on how to correct, if necessary, this error is most appreciated. Things appear to be working exactly as they did before the attempt at this upgrade. Thanks!
