BIOS upgrade increase 4100 memory allowed?
I have a Dem 4100 with A04 BIOS running Windows XP Pro. My book tells me that the Max memory is 512 MB, since I have only 2 slots I think this must mean I can only use 256MB per slot. I would like to put a 512MB stick in one slot and a 256MB in the other. If I upgrade my BIOS will that help? Also where can I find a description of what each BIOS upgrade does and what the latest one is for the 4100?
Thanks

Thanks so much Majestic, I read all the BB questions I could last night and I really want to thank you for all your great posts. I learned a lot. You are very nice to help us all out and we appreciate it very much. One last question, since the mother board doc says 512MB max memory can it take a 512 stick in one slot with the other empty, will it hurt anything to try it? Thanks again.- Your welcome. I'm more than glad to have been of assistance. As for using the 512 module...... that's a good question as I don't ever recall anyone trying it. If it were me I would give it a try and see what happens. The worse case scenario I suspect would be the system wouldn't boot up successfully with it installed. There maybe other risks I am not aware of such as damaging the module, but then again we see a lot of postings in the forums here where people install incompatible memory modules and the system survived.
