blue screen errors
This is the first time it ever happened - I ran all the diagnostics from the Dell site, my Windows XP still wont boot up - there isnt a file name to look at to check that - the message in its entirety reads as follows:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you have seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Disable or uninstall any antivirus, disk defragmentation, or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical information:
***STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x82372828, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)
I cant get this computer to boot in any safe modes or last good configuration, I ran diagnostics as Dell instructed me to - as you can see there is not a specific file to check, and the diagnostics all passed. Is there any hope in saving this computer?

I meet the same problem exactly as yours, the only defference is the OS I use is Windows VISTA home basic.
I don't know what should I do now. I even can not boot from a VISTA DVD. When I try to boot from the DVD, it goes to blue screen too. That means I even can not re-install the system?
Is this a hardware issue? Which one?
I have had problems with Blue Screens over the last 3 days.
They started when the computer Froze...So I Restarted my computer.
After this , all I could get was blue screens.
The messages were similar to those you described, some suggested changing Video Adapters.
When i tried Safe Mode, this also caused a Blue screen after a few seconds.
I tried using the DELL PC Restore ( Ctrl + F11) but it would not allow me to do it.
I removed and re installed the 4 memory cards, also removed and Re installed the graphics card.
I also temporarily disconnected the floppy drive and the cd r/w drive to see if I could find the fault by elimination; but still I got the Blue Screens.
I even tried using an electric fan to blow cold air into the side of the computer in case things were getting too hot.
Every time I tried anything, I got the same result...I was unable to load Windows. Just another blue screen.
I tried the Dell Diagnostic program and all tests Passed.
I left my computer running all night, and the following morning I restarted my computer and everything was OK.
Windows loaded ok....So I immediately did a Dell PC restore... to try and tidy everything up.
Everything is fine now.
I just can't understand ; after 3 days of blue screens, why every thing has suddenly gone back to normal.
Can anyone explain this?
If I was to use the CHKDSK/F to check my hard drive, would I still be able to continue using Dell PC Restore in the future, or would I lose that facility?
Any help would be appreciated.
Derek

Did you run the 'Chkdsk /f' ?
Insert the Windows install disk and boot up into the Windows install program. When the program first finishes loading, hit the R key. This will start the Windows Recovery Console (essentially DOS).
Type in 'Chkdsk /f' to perform a hard drive health scan and automatically fix any error which may have been found. When chkdsk is done, reboot and see if you can now boot successfully. If not, reboot again with the Windows install disk in and perform a Windows operating system repair.
Refer to these instructions on how to perform a operating system repair:
