Hi,

I wondered if someone could assist with an issue using Extended Desktop (Laptop + Monitor).  I have a Dell Latitude 6400 running Windows XP as a work PC and would like to use the monitor as my 'main screen' and move other applications over to the laptop screen as per normal Extended Desktop.  This appears to work for other users in the office but I just cannot get the same set-up and hoped someone could help.

To detail the steps I have taken:

Right-click on desktop - Select 'Graphics Properties'
Display Devices - Select Operating Mode 'Extended Desktop'
Display Selection - Primary Device 1 'Monitor' - Secondary Device 'Notebook'
Align position of laptop to monitor (laptop to the left)
'Apply'

As soon as I hit apply the Monitor remains the same with correct output where as the laptop image is just the wallpaper of the desktop although slightly 'cropped' on the bottom and left side.  When I open each application there is no arrow as there should be to move the app to the Extended Desktop as per normal. 

I have looked all over the web for any answers but most seem to conclude that the basic steps I have taken were correct.  I have also tried changing display properties of both screeens but with no sucess.  The monitor is an NEC MultiSync LCD 1770NX.

Any input would be most appreciated.
