For the past several months, I continue to lose the ability to connect with web sites that I had previously been able to connect with. Instead, I get "The page cannot be displayed" message. Although I can still connect to the vast majority of web sites, I have lost the ability to connect to significant sites such as Microsoft for updates, my hometown bank, McAfee for antivirus updates, and several major search engines. I can still connect to Yahoo, but within Yahoo itself I cannot connect to the People Search feature or Weather. And this inability to connect is constant from one day to the next. Any suggestions would so VERY MUCH be appreciated.

Windows 98, IE 5.50, Dial-up connection, Dell Dimension V350 , U.S. Robotics 56K Voice Win

My attempts to correct the problem include adjusting the settings in the browser, using a different browser (Netscape 6), deleting all the cookies, deleting all temporary files, connecting a different computer (my old Macintosh see P.S. below) to the same connection, dumping all the web sites in my IE 5.5 Favorites folder, downloading the latest version of MS Virtual Machine, and so far nothing has worked. Also, I run the Maintenance Wizard on a weekly basis. P.S. My Macintosh computer is able to connect to ALL web sites using the same dial-up connection.
