I've had my 8200 for 1 1/2 years and that happens often. It hasn't been a big deal until now, when my cursor jumps to the bottom right side of my screen. Very hard to get it to point at anything. Anybody? It's very annoying, not to mention almost impossible to use the computer!- I just bought a Dimension 8300 and the mouse jumping problem is driving me nutts. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, even updated the USB drivers and finally went out and bought a new mouse. That didn't fix anything. The mouse jumps to where ever if feels like, I mostly notice it when gaming or doing graphics work. Any ideas??? I would greatly appreciate any help. Maybe a BIOS revision or something.
My cursor will float freely to the side without touching the mouse (Dell Dimension 8300). Did anyone see a solution to this problem? It was mentioned before. Your help is appreciated greatly.

I too am experiencing the same problem. The cursor will arbitrarily zip and scroll to the bottom of the screen. It a bit annoying and would like to be able to resolve it. I have a Dell 8250 and a Logitech Trackman Marble (Model T-CL13) connected to a PS/2 port using the mouse driver provided by Microsoft XP. I have tried installing the latest driver from Logitech and the behavior was much worse - arbitrary movements and opens all sort of windows without me touching the mouse.
I will try the following:
(1) Replace the Trackman Marble
(2) Update my BIOS to v A04
(3) Try a different brand of mouse
- I have the same problem with my four-month-old 8300. Ever since I got the system, the cursor has jumped every few minutes regardless of whether I am moving the mouse or not, what sort of mouse pad I am using (the Dell-supplied pad has a tendency to cause tracking problems, but this is a different issue), which USB port the mouse is in, or whether I've re-installed my OS. I've had Dell send me a new mouse, but the problem has not gone away.
