From what you described, you messed up the .sys files that windows 9x uses to display it's loading screen. The name of the sys files escapes me at the moment, but its located in your windows directory.


Oh, got it.. logo.sys... just delete logo.sys from your windows directory... or if you don't want to delete it, rename it to logo.sys.old or something.

If you don't know how to do that, here are the simple steps.

Launch an MS Dos prompt and type the following:

cd \windows
ren logo.sys logo.sys.old
exit

And then reboot... if that doesn't fix your problem, let us know...

It may also be in your root directory (c:\). Sorry, its been so long since I've use win9x I tend to forget some stuff... :)

I figured it out. Actually, I found that the log was hidden as the background behind the desktop. I right clicked on the desktop and pull up the display props. Went to appearance and notice under the choices that it didn't show as default. So I restored it and rebooted and the picture file during bootup came back to the Dell Logo. Thax for the tips I will save them for the future. IT's been so long since I missed with DOS. I think I need to dig up my DOS BIBLE and review it occasionally.
