Go to SolutionDell Optiplex GX620
Ive got an Optiplex GX620 that i picked up as an off lease corp computer. Its a good machine very dependable but i want to upgrade the Graphics card. BUT,in order to get a good one i need to upgrade the power supply. The current power supply is only 275 watts and id like to upgrade to 400watts or somewhere near that. Can anyone point me in the right direction to buy another power supply and what the MAX Wattage this motherboard can handle?. Thanks

Its the Slim Form Factor with the 275 watt power supply.

The SFF does not use a standard PSU, so an upgrade is going to be pretty difficult to find. Any PSU will provide the correct voltage to the motherboard. That's not the problem. Had you gotten a mini tower, you'd have lots of options.

Yeah I didn't go with a one with a crazy big fan. It basicly one like the EAH with a fan to help keep it cool since there isn't much room in the case for cooling. My next project is prob gonna be some case cooling mods. I wanna keep this thing around for a while,its my work from home computer.I do DSL Tech support.

Awesome, picked up a variation of this card with a cooling fan. Thanks for all the info guys. This forum is beast. Btw, I'm a big time Dell fan, I even have a Dell Venue.lol

The reason for recommending the EAH5450 is that when you get into smaller and smaller cases you
will have to hack a hole in the hard drive bracket and then hold it in with duct tape and dremel and hack your way
to get cards with fans to physically fit in the Desktop or SFF case.
There was a Guy that Shoehorned a 5670 into the 990 after using hacksaw, dremel tool, and then electric tape to hold it back together since the cover no longer latched.

wait,how can they call that a Mini-tower? that's way bigger than the Slim FF that ive got..wow. Anyways,where can I get just the Case & Power supply?

Id be willing to switch cases,even to a generic one. I just think the Big GX620 case is way too big and a monster in size compared to the one I have now.

The 19 Watt ASUS Radeon HD5450 does not need an upgraded 400W power supply and therefore works fine with the 620 ALL MODELS Except the USFF. USFF systems have no slots and a laptop type Power Brick.
Here is example of GX280 doing the same thing.
