yup! your MB needs replacement.

Is the power indicator green or amber?  Blinking or solid?

Any diagnostic lights (A-B-C-D) on the back?

Since you have several 3000s, you can try swapping a PSU from one of the others.

As far as lights. Mother board is LED is solid green. Strange thing though now. The power light is amber.

There are no diagnostics lights on.

Also the other 3  Dimensions are being used.

So I am not sure those folsk would like me "borrowing" their PS ;-)

solid amber. i will try to see if one of the cards or memory is bad. that would be less hassle than MB replace!

Ok finally got a chance to play with this again.

Removed all cards, disconnected all data and power cables, removed all memory - pushed start button and sometime lights power lights flashed briefly and then went out and other times when I pushed they would stay on solide amber and solid green. No beep codes in either scenario. I assume it is MB based on that but any chance switch is bad??

also no diagnostic lights ever come on.

one thing i also did was remove all cards and still had HD, floppy and CD/dvd drives hooked up, also had memory in. when i did this it would go to solid amber light and solid green light. fan on PS was turning. would stay that way for about ten seconds and then go dead. again no beep codes and no diagnostic lights.

Well replaced mother board and i am right back where I started. Solid Amber light, no diagnostic lights, no boot.

I went back through the other stuff reomoving cards to troubleshoot amber light - with all cards removed still amber light onn.

Reseated memory with all cards out still amber.

Removed all memeory no beep codes.

Any thoughts.

installed new psu (430W Thermaltake for $30) and voila pc works. I am going to tell myself the motherboard was bad as well originally so that I do have to swap out and deal with return.

As a side note, getting the new MB was an incredible ordeal. Original call was "we have to check on stock since only 3 left. we will get back to you in 4-24 hours" After 72 hours I called 3x to finally get someone that could get me right part. First 2 wanted to sell me MB ranging in price from $260 to $370. I laughed and told them I could almost buy a new PC for that price. They said that they had plenty of those boards though. At that price they probably will be there a while. I finally got a board NG368 ($112)and it worked great. A little shorter than original but easy install.
