Dimension 8300 won't boot

Here are the symptoms... 1. Computer does not come up when power button is pressed. The power button blinks on/off orange. I've disconnected/reconnected A/C power many times, even letting it sit overnight unplugged. 2. There are no lights on the ABCD indicators. Upon opening the case I discovered 2 things. 1st there is a green light that is ON on the mobo, 2nd the power supply was extremely clogged, which I cleaned. No PS fan comes on at all and obviously no posting occurs. Seems obvious the power supply is bad(or crippled) and I am hoping the mobo is ok but I have no way of testing it. I wanted to run it by the forum first. I'm going to check all power connections next. I'd appreciate any input.

If the light on the power button is blinking orange that means you have a dead or dying power supply.  Since the fan doesn't come on then you've pretty much found your trouble.  You'll just need t order a new power supply fom Dell and get it installed.  The motherboard should be ok.  Just to double check do you smell any foul odors when you open the case?  If you do then the power supply and/or the motherboard got fried by something i,e, power surge, Lightning.  Hope this helps.

It was definitely the power supply. I replaced it and it booted right up. Good luck knavic!
