Entering bios setup with USB Keyboard?
I am having no luck getting into setup with my new USB keyboard. It seems the keyboard is not recognized until the operating system is loaded, witch is too late to hit the F2 key.
I replaced the PS2 Keyboard because I aquired the machine used and the keyboard port worked only intermitently.
Has anyone had a similar problem and solved it?

Legacy mode for USB in Bios is enabled. It was done before my original post. It did not work. I have the latest Bios update installed A 12. This problem may not have a solution unless Dell comes out with a new Bios rev. that addresses the issue.

I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard that I use in conjunction with a port replicator and my M70 notebook. When the keyboard is first detected none of the Function keys are set to act as Function keys. They are set up to do all of the golly-gee-whiz one-touch application-launcher sort of stuff. So hitting the F2 key at that point will not get me into the BIOS setup routine. Instead, I have to hit a key which toggles the Function keys between the two sets of behaviors (normal and "enhanced"). Only then will striking the F2 key get me into the BIOS. Is there a chance that your keyboard behaves in a similar manner?
Just thought I'd throw that out there in case.

When legacy mode is enabled the Keyboard and the mouse on USB work just fine in DOS or bios mode.
