    Hello raf,

I got Dell 8400 a few weeks ago but it didn't have Recovery CD either.

I called Dell and was told that they don't provide it; tech person said that I have the option of reinstalling WinXP (this disc is included) and then reinstalling drivers and such. I am not looking forward to it since I have never done this before but I guess there is always first time for everything.

Good luck ( and let me know if you manage to squeeze Recovery CD from them :))

Press CTRL-F11 at the Dell logo. You WILL lose all data on your system, so if you have anything not backed up, do so before restoring.

so will the ctrl F11 restore everything to the way it was?? cause i think i might have download a virus so i just want to erase all the stuff i downloaded and have it like brand new again.

i don't know much about computers, so will have to change settings or anything like that when i press control F11 or will that just do everything on its own.

    thanks for the replies

For systems shipped after 7.15.04 you could use the Dell Symantec PC Restore Utility.

Does it matter that I installed a second hard drive (meant to be data storage drive for pictures) and do I have to take it out before I use Dell PC restore?

    Thank you for your help.

    raf1919.

If you use the Dell PC restore, then the answer is no.
