Installing the Resolution Assistant program

Just set up my new Dimension 4100 a week ago. A letter came with it stating they were unable to install the Resolution Assistant. Directions followed-- Put the Backup:Dell-instaled programs cd in the cd rom drive. Click cancel, yes and finish to first three screens respectively. Then click start and run - "D:\Apps\RA\setup.exe" - then click the ok button. The blue screen comes up with the installation wizard. Then I get an error message that reads "Supported browser not detected on this machine, please refer to your documentation." The bar at the top of the box is labeled "severe" and there is a red circle with an x in it in the upper left corner.

I tried this several times, removing the cd and starting from scratch, but this thing will not install. I can't figure out what this message is talking about.

I have a Dimension 4100 800MHz 128MB ram 20.4GB 7200 PM ultra ATA hard drive. So far, it's running like a dream (especially when compared to the old Compaq I had).

I am not by any means an expert, but thought this program might keep me out of trouble or get me out of it if in a jam.

I thought "browser" referred to internet service - I use Earthlink. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you--- and I apologize this note became a book!!

A browser is a program for surfing the web .............. netscape or internet explorer for example. Every document that I open involving Dell opens in a netscape brower screen as netscape communicator is my default browser. Hope this helps as I'm only beginning to learn most of these terms myself.

Both browsers are on my computer - but prefer internet explorer to netscape communicator. I had a thought this morning and tried to install again. I turned off the virus scan, I've seen that mentioned when installing programs. But I got the same error message. And that is as far as my imagination will take me. Does anyone have any ideas?
