Clint, the memory manager can be found by going to start/settings/control panel/double click system. Choose performance tab. Click virtual memory button at right bottom of box. Make certain that the box marked "Let Windows set memory" or something close to that, is checked. Then click OK and close. Another alternative if that doesn't work, is that you should go to Windows Update from tools on the Internet Browser and download the virtual memory update. Hope this helps.

Clint, I am not sure about this, but I think this behavior may sometimes be caused by outdated video drivers. You might want to also check this out. This article may be useful. Q255846, How to uninstall and reinstall virtual memory.

Clint, just try unchecking virtual memory manager, shutting down, restarting, and rechecking, and shutdown, restart.

LIKE I SAID, MY NEW SIZZLING MACHINE HAS ALSHEIMERS---IT CAN'T REMEMBER SETTINGS, ETC. IT WAKES UP IN A NEW WORLD JUST SITTING IDLE. MY GRANDSON LOADED A NEW GAME, HAD TO SHUT DOWN AND WHAT'S YOUR GUESS. RIGHT---NO ERROR MESSAGE IN STARTUP SAYING MEMORY MANAGER NOT DETECTED. LOL, I'M TOO OLD FOR THIS _ _ _ _!! THE LATEST WRINKLE IS A KAK WORM EVERY SATURDAY NITE THAT CAUSES MY INCOMING MESSAGES TO RECYCLE LEAVING ME WITH WORMS ON EVERY CYCLE AND THEN EACH WORM HAS TO BE QUARANTINED AND DELETED AND A SCAN TO BE SURE THE WORMS ARE DEAD AND GONE. NORTON SAYS SEND THEM A COPY OF THE QUARANTINED WORM, BUT SAYS THEY CAN'T RECIEVE ZIPPED FILES. THAT'S CUTE. I'M NOT AN UNZIPPER--DON'T KNOW HOW OR EVEN WHETHER I HAVE WINZIP, SO I GUESS I'LL LIVE WITH THAT WORMY SITUATION THROUGH ETERNAL SATURDAYS. ANYHOW--=-THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST AND HELP. TRIED TO GET HELP FROM MICROSOFT----THAT'S A LAUGH!!
