Memory Stick Recognition

My computer will not recognize the memory stick when inserted in the front USB port.  How can I get the computer to recognize this?

Can you access the memory stick from another USB port other than the front?
Are your USB port version 1 or 2 and what speed is the stick?
Does the stick work on another computer?
Is the cable connected correctly to the front ports?

What version of Windows do you have?  If you have Win98 or Win ME, you will need drivers for the memory stick, from the stick vendor. If it's XP or Vista then it should be detected.

    Hi
    I have a similar problem.
My system is a Dimension 4600 running XP Pro SP2 BIOS Version A03.
The Flash Drive is a PNY Attache' 2 Gb drive. The file system is listed as FAT

If there is any other system info needed, please let me know.

When I install the flash drive in the upper USB port in the front of the computer, it may or may not be recognized as a flash drive. If I install in the lower USB port in the front of the computer, it is not recognized as a flash drive.

I cannot access 3.5 inch floppy disks or the flash drive.

If I use the flash drive on my computer at work, the drive works perfectly.
