Mic does not work on new 8400

Connected mic to sound card as normal, but did not work (actually, the headphones did work, but the mic would not).  This is a new PC (May 2005) and the first time I've connected a mic.   Sound card is SB Audigy 2 ZS.   Tried adjusting all the settings I could find, but no luck.   What should I try next? Tried the mic on my other Dell PC and it worked fine (SB Live card).

    Do a search in this forum. You'll see lots of posts about this problem. You are not alone. One recent post suggested it may be a hardware issue that can be resolved by disconnecting the front mic jack from the sound card and just using the jack on the back of the computer. I haven't tried that yet. But it would be very inconvenient to have to use the jack on the back.

    Sound like they still have not fixed the sound problems with the Del desktops.
