New XPS420 and RAID errors

Hello all,

I have recently bought a XPS420, and up to now I am quite happy with the machine. Apart from some instability in Internet Explorer 7 :) ( not opening some pages such as the Dell homepage hehe )

I have been reading the forum and the many problems with Raid error. I have worked for Sony Vaio support for 2 years and one of the laptops ( AR series ) also had a lot of problems with Raid 0 errors.

It is suspected that these problems occured after installing Itunes or Quicktime. I don´t know if there is a relation, but, who knows? Anyway, I don´t use these things... :P

Well, I hope everything goes ok with mine...

    Hello

    Check this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306526

    and this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306525

According to the second one, iTunes 7.6 fixes the problem.

I personally use Vista 64 Ultimate, iTunes 7.6, and the newest SATA drivers from Dell. While I don't have a RAID, I have switched the SATA to RAID-Mode in the BIOS (otherwise the eSATA port is disabled).

I don't have any problems with the above configuration.

I know what you are talking about, though: My (non Dell) Laptop kept bluescreening whenever I played back a Video in iTunes. No other software ever caused these errors, so hopefully you are fine if you don't have Quicktime installed.

    Regards, Martin
