Parallel vs. USB

I was wondering if there are any advantages in using USB option (other than the benefit of freeing athe Parallel port) of,
for example, Epson printers compared to the parallel option. Does it in any way affect printing high resolution color prints? Also, if I used a 6' (1.5 meter)Belkin USB cable, wouldn't it be too long for reliable printing? Please, anyone who has experience in this matter. Thanks in advance

I can't answer about an Epson printer, but I have a Brother HL-1240 laser printer connected to one of my USB ports and it works great. The cable is a 10 ft. generic one. The print quality is excellent and very fast. I did read that with multi-function printers using the Belkin USB cable with a parallel adapter all of the functions may not work. You might want to check the Belkin site. I found it to be very helpful.
