The "output" will "output" whatever input signal there is. e.g. if you play CD's the CD audio will be sent to whatever speakers. Except for something that generates surround sound (e.g. 5.1 sound) the type of speaker system you have is not an issue.
However, do you have "digital" speakers? If you have "analog" speakers you must use the Analog speaker connection(s) and set the output for analog. If you set the output to "digital" then you must have speakers that accept a digital input signal.
If you have "digital" speakers, double check all of your speaker connections. If you bought "digital" speakers from Dell there should have been a connection sheet on how to hook them up. If you have "digital" speakers from a previous non-Dell system or from Retail speakers make sure they are compatible and hooked up correctly.
You didn't include the Make/Model of speakers so no one can offer you specific advice based on the speakers you have.
Inspiron 16 5630 Laptop and WD22TB4 Docking StationSelf-built desktop for recording studio application- OK did not think it mattered with speakers just assumed that they would play whatever type of sound thru them I have Altec Lansing 2.1 model ATP3 system with subwoofer it has one input. Seems like the speakers may not be compatible but shouldnt the headphones play in digital?
- Ok so new speakers are on order was wondering will the center speaker mount on my 17" Dell lcd monitor it is the DELL - UltraSharp 1704FPV 17-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand like it does on the wide ultrasharp?

Hmmm..........the pink jack is usually for the mic. The green one is for speakers.Ok have speakers hooked up but no digital output have them hooked up according to the instruction manual went in to the settings and changed from analog to digital while playing music but no digital output what I am I missing. Tryed to run configuration manager for the Audigy 2ZS sound card but in digital there is no output is there any other settings I am missing or something else that was supposed to hook up.
