shutdown computer

I am having problems shuting down my computer. It goes through the motions and the monitor goes black with a cursor flasing in the upper left corner. The cpu however does not turn off. The power has to be shut off by holding the power button off for a few seconds. When I turn the monitor back on I get an error message that says the computer was inproperly shut down. The an error message appears and says Rundll32 caused and error in the NEWDOTNET3_21.DLL. Rundll 32 will now close. The another box pops up and says Realplay has caused and error in (unknown). Realplay will now close. Does anyone have a clue what is going on?

Are you running RealPlayer? If so uninstall this software. I bet it will then shutdown properly and will boot properly. Let me know.
