Still having error codes on startup
I'm still getting error codes when I boot up my Dell XPS T450 (Service tag 1RA6T). The error codes started out of the blue mid-last week, with no apparent effect other than the beeping. The error codes ring off after the startup files have been processed (if I do a step-by-step loading of drivers etc. for the windows startup, I get 2 beeps after all of these commands have been processed).
The Dell documentation doesn't seem to have a listing for 2 beeps. Other than this, my system seems to be behaving normally (but I'm of course concerned about the error codes). An additional problem that I initially thought was related to these beeps turned out to be independent.
Can anyone offer possible explanations and/or solutions?
Chris

- Nope, I actually have all windows sounds disabled (can't stand them). Additionally, these beep codes are motherboard initiated, and occur before windows actually gets itself started up.
Maybe I'll run through the dell diagnostics to see if perhaps something is misbehaving that I can't readily observe.
Chris - Well I'm assuming that the standard first beep is just fine (the "setup prompting beep"), but these two more beeps (which are not the same sorts of beeps that the setup beeps are) weren't happening for 9 months. Now suddenly they pop up?
Wacky stuff.
Chris - Brickwall, you should get one beep after the Dell splash screen and two before windows starts. You can turn the vol of your computer tower speaker down. Those beeps are there for a reason. After the first, you can enter safe mode by pressing F8. If you get more than two beeps on the second set of beeps, something is wrong.
- Nope. No visible messages. If I boot in "step-by-step" confirmation mode, I see nothing that would arouse my attention. Windows boot log seems to be clean as a whistle. That's the rather baffling thing. If these error codes also corresponded to some strange behavior in my system, then I would at least have something to go on. At the moment, though, it appears that whatever isn't working quite properly isn't making itself evident.

Try going to Start|Settings|Control Panel. Double-click Sounds and see if there is a sound associated with any event which corresponds to the two beeps you are hearing. If your system is operating normally otherwise, this might be a place the sounds may be coming from (especially if you have recently implemented a theme).
