windows 98/will not defrag
Cannot defrag my system. I have Windows 98 and have not been able to defrag for months. Have worked with Dell tech's a number of times. Nothing works. Safe mode hasn't helped either. Can some one please tell me how to correct this problem? Thanks Annakay

It's not uncommon for a corrupted Applog Folder to make it impossible to run Defrag. Follow the instructions instructions found HERE to delete this folder and give it another go.

If this is the free space on the drive is this free space equal to or greater than half the drive space total? If per chance you have GoBack 3.0 Deluxe (or any version of GoBack for that matter), it will stop the Windows defragmentation program dead in its tracks.
If this is your situation, you will need to purchase a defrag program that will allow you to exclude specific files.
If this is the case, post back and I will tell you which file must be excluded and suggest a retail defrag program and I believe there are a couple of free or shareware defrag programs that permit you to do this.
