XPS One running XP?
Has anyone gotten their XPS One fully functional under XP?

Sorry, linked to the XPS 420. I have not seen any data from customers saying they loaded XP on the XPS One. I will keep looking.

I'm curious as to how your conversion to XP is turning out. I've been looking at purchasing the "One" as a replacement for my laptop. Have you been able to find the bluetooth drivers yet? Also have you looked to see how hard it would be to upgrade the video card? or add any extra RAM? Also are you using XP Pro or Home?Side Note: IMO I'm not ready to transition to Vista yet since it seems to have to many compatability issues still. Much like XP did in the begining.641

I was able to get the Bluetooth drivers to work - no biggie just a little bit of work. The only thing that doesn’t appear to work are the touch sensitive buttons on the front of the monitor. Those require a custom application that appears to be a dell specific app (receive and error on login). My guess is it is probably specifically designed for vista. The touch screen button for turning the monitor on and off works but the volume / mute / eject do not (still working on this one).
We're looking at using these in a business lab (for the wow factor) so XP is more compatible, faster, and generally more accepted.For those interested.. I'm testing with XP Pro SP2 (current updates).We took it apart to check out the ram, and its full size desktop ram (woot)... and Dell's specs online show it supports 4GB ram Max (although they dont offer one with 4GB).We're going to be adding 2x2GB sticks for 4GB (we will probebly only see 3.5GB due to the 32bit limitations).Newegg has some cheap Kingston 4GB(2 x 2GB) ram for it. What about the video card? Is the "One" using a notebook type slot or some kind of pci-e slot simliar to an ATX board?641

The video card, and motherboard for that reason are all very customized - It didnt appear to be user replacable. We returned our demo unit and have 15 more on order. I can look at them when they arrive to confirm. Initially I remember the hard drive being full size, the cdrom is custom (blue led and slot load), the wireless, bt and ram of course are all user replacable and standard slots. Only 2 memory slots.. Any other questions? Has anyone been able to get the touchpanel buttons working?Thanks,Andrew641

whatuusay1, Could you please post a short list of the drivers you are using and where you downloaded them from. I am really struggling with getting the system to work in XP mode. Thank you!641

I wonder if they are using the same MB model for the unit with the ATI Mobility card. If they are then it should be realitivly easy to find something a little higher up the food chain, depending of course on size and cooling systems, if any. Chris, can you shed any light on the subject?641

I've been working on getting XP SP2 installed on this unit also and I have many of the options working such as the video driver, sound, TV tuner, bluetooth, and network (NIC and wireless). I have 4 unknown devices at this time.
I'll list the drivers and where I found them (I don't have time at the moment to give the direct links...maybe later when I return from a service call). I might not remember all of them at the moment but if I leave any out, please ask and I'll do my best to find the info for them.
So, here is the list:

Edit - I also downloaded the driver for the DEL0100 ACPI device from Dell's support site...but I don't remember exactly where (I'll find it later).
Please note - on the Management Engine, as on the Bluetooth and possibly others, I had to extract the drivers (I used 7Zip for this) and add them manually to the devices.
Also, I found this note on a website for a HTPC case about the BB+ Module(e.d):
The IR221 solution is based on the Philips/Microsoft IR solution developed specifically for Vista Media Center. As standard this module is fitted to all S21T and S16T units (as they do not have a VFD option) and receives signals from the RC153, RC197 and MCE keyboard. The IR221 replaces the IR220 which was compatible with both MCE2005 and Vista as it has been discontinued by Philips.
Microsoft will not release MCE2005 drivers for the new module because they expect new users to be installing Vista as this is the preferred Media Center platform.
Windows Vista automatically installs drivers for the IR221 so you should never see BB+ Module in the device manager. If you are using Windows MCE2005, then you will have to upgrade your operating system to Windows Vista

Don't know if this will work with XP but I was able to get the touch buttons to work on a clean install of Ultimate on a second partition. If you have the XPS Resource CD run it and click on "Applications". My CD included an app named Cypress Semiconductor Touch Panel Media Key. It's an app not a driver. Ran it and all touch keys now work.
