XPS Studio 8100 Cannot turn on!!
My New Dell Studio XPS 8100 just arrived. Was really looking forward to it... now... not so good. Set everything up. Plugged it in..... Nothing, and I mean nothing. A little LED on the back goes green, thats it. When i press the power button nothing happens. Tried a new power cable, nothing. Unplugged everything, nothing. When I look inside a small amber light on the mother board but thats it. Will be calling tech support tomorrow. I would have expected the person who stamped the quality stamp on the machine would have at least turned it on before shipping it!!
Really bummed out! Any help really appreciated.

tdmoran,
First Time Boot Up Instructions -
* Once the PC is unpacked, I open the side cover and remove/reseat all cables, cords, cards, ram, just to make sure nothing came loose during shipping
* Replace the side cover
* Connect only the mouse, keyboard, speakers, and monitor to the PC
* Those USB devices should be plugged into the PC rear USB ports
* The PC power cord should be plugged directly into the wall socket (for now)
* Power the monitor on
* Power the PC on. What happens?

Not so simple it now seems. I thought it had been the wireless network card, but then the problem happened again.Sometimes when I shut down the machine when I go to turn it back on again nothing happens. I have the solution though... If I switch off the power, wait till the green LED on the back switches off, unplug the motherboard (Big white plug), and then plug in the motherboard and the the power supply everything works again. My issue is should I return the machine?? Is this a known problem?? Seems a bit weird..?

As this is a new system, contact Dell's Technical Support ASAP and see if they can repair the 8100 to your complete satisfaction, or return the system.

Did you check all the internal cabling and connectors? Occasionally, a connector will come loose during shipping.
