right now it shows that im running intel family 4 chip set for my display. On my reinstall disk for dell software ect. under video are 4 different driver. 1 ati 3650, aver hybrid atsc and a dvt, and a intel 45gm(the 45gm is installed and working i think. ???????????
That means you have the version with Intel-only video. There were two boards used in this model - the one that has ATI video uses the Intel PM45 chipset (and has no onboard video). The other uses the Intel GM45 chipset and has only Intel video - no ATI.
The driver you need is the Intel GM45 -- but be SURE you install the Dell notebook system software and the chipset driver FIRST, or that video driver WILL NOT load correctly.

You do not have Intel video - though the newer systems with Core i CPUs have the Intel video alongside the discrete ATI or nVidia video, your system does not. You have a Core 2 based system that's older. All you have is ATI video.
If you've reinstalled Windows, you MUST, IN ORDER, install
1. The Dell notebook system software
2. The chipset driver
THEN install the ATI video driver. You do not need and cannot use the Intel video driver.
