6400 Battery

I have searched around enough to know I am probably gonna hear "Battery is gone, buy a new one from Dell!", but just for the heck of it let's give this a go. Randomly while machine was running with Battery inserted but plugged into AC power, Battery LED blinks 1 Green, 4 Orange. Machine runs off AC with no battery installed. Neither are no where near even warm/hot. Any time the machine is on now with Battery inserted LED Blinks like described. Battery is at most 13 months old, and showed 0 signs previously of degrading. Battery was fully charged at time LED started Blinking and currently running it off Battery alone it is delivering a normal runtime. Will run battery dry and attempt to recharge, but dang this Blinking LED is annoying. Also in a totally unrelated, theoretical question... With an Extended 3 year warranty that is supposed to cover everything accidental, would an entire machine be replaced if the laptop were damaged by accident, and unintentionally? *Edit* - Ran it down till it shut itself off, plugged in AC adapter and LED is still blinking like before, but Battery is being reported as recharging as normal. Typical 2-3 charge time being reported.

    daniel_48:

Thank you for posting your message at the Dell Community Forums.

It sounds as if one or more of your battery cells if failing, you will need to get a replacement.

In regards to Dell Complete Care. Dell will service the system as needed to repair functionality. If the damage is so severe that a replacement is warranted, then the complete system would be exchanged.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,
