Alienware M17x

Hey guys, I just bought a Alienware M17x to be a gaming machine that I can transport around to college with me, I was simply wondering if overall, gaming performace wise, this generation of laptop will score higher frames then my last generation high-end desktop?

Dell XPS 720 H2C
Intel Quad Extreme QX6850 3.73GHz
8GB Ballistix Tracer DDR2 1066MHz RAM
2x 8800GTX Ultra's in SLi
Raptor X Raid 0 Array
X-Fi, PhysiX Card, Blu-Ray, 1KW PSU

Alienware M17x
Intel Quad Core Q9000 2.0GHz
8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
2 x 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA  GeForce GTX 260M
1x 160GB 7,2000RPM Hard Drive
1x Nvidia 9600GT for Stealth Mode
5.1 Intergrated, Nvidia Physix, 8-1 Kard Reader

That is them compared, will the Alienware come close to the XPS at all or will my desktop still be more powerful?

thanks a lot for the reply, i just figured the 260m SLI in the laptop would outdo my older 8800 series in the desktop.

The desktop is far faster.  Hardware for  hardware matched, the notebook will always be slower than a desktop.

Not enough to make up for the slower CPU, slower bus, slower memory and slower drives in the notebook.
