as my 6-year old Dell Inspiron 9300 notebook doesn't work anymore, I need a new one. I was always very satisfied with my Dell notebook and so I want do buy a Dell this time too. I want a high performance desktop notebook with a 17" display with a good price-performance ratio. So I found the Alienware M17x and now I am asking you, how to configure it for the best price-performance ratio?

I am cutting videos, so the rendering shouldnt take too long, but also my old Insprion 9300 was fast enough - so that wont be a problem. But I want to play games as GTA IV in full HD without any problems. My old Insprion 9300 didn't even fullfill the minimum requirements for GTA IV.

So, whats about this configuration:

Intel Core i7 620M
1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5870
17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz
128GB Solid State Drive
Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader

Questions:

Would be a Core 2 Duo processor better? If not, is the i7 720QM (same price) better?
How much better would be Dual 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 4870 in CrossfireX concerning price-performance ratio?
More Ram needed? But when I choose 6GB, they wouldnt be dual-channel. And 8GB are too expensive.
