Another projector problem
I am able to extend my desktop onto an external projector but I want to run a PowerPoint presentation. I want to see the presentation on the laptop and on the projector screen.
Fn and F8 doesn't do anything for me.
I am using an Inspiron 8500 and a Sharp PG-M20X projector.
Hope someone can tell me what to do or where to find the answers. The projector instrructions don't tell me anything about configuring the computer.
I need to give the presentation in 5 days.
Thanks
JB

Thanks,
The PowerPoint is set to run automatically and the music starts with the first slide. Ther won't be any clicking or mouse movement.
I really don't need to have the presentation on my laptop at the same time, but if I deselect the Extend desktop feature the 2nd monitor(projector) is greyed out.
Thanks for your sugestions and I will keep working with it. Do you know of a tutorial or any reference to setting up the computer for this type of work?
OK, I'm set to go!!!
I'm editing my earlier reply to let you know how I got things to work...
In the Display Properties dialog box, I clicked on the Advanced button and then clicked on the "Displays" tab and switched which monitor-projector would be the #1 display. I have an ATI video card. When I switched the two I could do everything I needed through the projector.
Thanks again.
JB

I'm glad you were able to solve this problem by yourself! Unfamiliar with the ATI driver's control, I wouldn't have been able to offer much more assistance anyway.

If you extend your desktop, then you won't be able to see the same presentation on your laptop. The best you can do is by pressing F5 and using PgUp/PgDw to navigate your slides -- this way your laptop will show slide transition within the PowerPoint window. However, this method will fail as soon as your full-screen presentation goes out of focus, i.e., the mouse accidentally clicks on some other window. To fix that you will just have to press F5 again and continue using PgUp/PgDw.
If you want the identical presentation displayed on your laptop, then you must disable the extended desktop feature.
