Battery or adaptor?
My Inspiron 1720 sent me warnings that my battery was nearing the end. It said that the laptop was still able to charge. However, the laptop went dead, and I finally bought the battery. I installed the new battery, but the laptop is still dead. Is there anyway to troubleshoot? Maybe it's the adaptor? How can I tell?

Check the BIOS setup - if the adapter is listed as "unknown", the battery won't charge. In that case, try a new Dell adapter. If that doesn't solve the problem, the system needs a mainboard repair or replacement.

Thanks. I can't even get the laptop to turn on to run any kind of check.
