Blinking cursor
I have a Latitude CPx (500 Mhz) system. It used to start fine for a while, but now it just starts, gives a short whirry sound from the hdd, cdrom gets recognised and that's it, nothing more apart from a blinking cursor. Am unable to get into the Bios as it doesn't boot that far. I have started without powercable attached. Removed PCMCIA card, battery and cdrom and all kind of other different setups.
It was suggested to me, that it might be the NVRam battery, but just want to make sure that this is indeed the case, because if I can prevent ripping the thing apart, I'd like to do so :-)
Any other ideas anyone?
Thanks....

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.
First, take your system off the docking station if you have one. Then take out all peripherals like printers, scanners, mice, keyboards, pc cards, and any other 3rd party devices you have added. Also, take out the battery and disconnect the ac adaptor and wait for 2min. then add only the ac adaptor back on, and try to boot.
If this does not help, you need to get the system repaired.
