Boot up issues
I have an Alienware m17x laptop. Here are my specs;
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 (2.0GHz)
Graphics Card: SLI Duel NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
RAM: 4GB 1333Mhx DDR3
Memory: 320GB (7,200rpm)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
My computer runs perfectly fine and I have no problems when using it, as far as I can tell, which includes running games like Crysis and UT3 as well as 3D and image manipulation software and I do this with good performance and no problems. However for some reason it will not start up correctly. Every time I turn on my laptop I get the following message;
Checking file system on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS
Volume label is OS.
One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue.
To skip disk checking, press any key within 10 second(s).
Most of the time it will count down from 10 and then when it reaches 1 my computer will freeze regardless of whether I press any keys or not. After attempting this a few times my computer will then successfully boot up after reaching 1 second(s) and then will work perfectly. Occasionally it will freeze on the screen that shows a graphic of an alien head and then on rare occasions I will hear a really loud beep and then the following message will appear;

I’m sure I wasn’t having this problem with Vista before I upgraded to Windows 7 and I have noticed that while I should have a 320GB hard drive my C drive only has 283GB, which is the only partition I have.
I know it’s a lot to read through but hopefully someone will have an idea what’s going on.
Thanks

Yeah I fixed the problem I think it was down to driver problems and compatibility issues.
I would suggest making sure all your drivers are upto date and are the right versions. If you still get problems then am not really sure since your computer would do a scan for a number of different problems so if its not drivers you might want to try reformating and starting again.

My computer has been doing almost the same thing. Well just the scan part and I have to turn it off manually. Have you found a solution to your problem? If so, please share.
