C800 BIOS problem

Hi

I recently upgraded my Latitude C800 BIOS from A18 to A23 on a mcahine running Windows 2000, and a strange p[roblem has resulted. When I boot with the upgraded BIOS my screen turns completely white as soon as the machine finished the Dell boot screen. It stays this way until Win2K is almost started. At the previous BIOS level a Picture of Windows 2000 was displayed during this time. This is not only annoying it becomes a problem if I try to boot from the CD or floppy. I am unable to see any prompts during the time the screen is white. I have loaded the latest level of sreen driver, but am afraid I did something to get the screen to turn white. I attempted to downgrade the BIOS to no avail as Dell doesn't let one downgrade a BIOS. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might get over this problem?

    Hi

some additional information on the white screen problem during boot up. I loaded a different level of the Mobility driver and when it had to re-boot after the installation there was no white screen! It had the windows 2000 logo screen. However, the next time I booted the white screen was back again. It appears to be a problem with the video driver as the white screen eventually goes to a normal screen later in the Windows 2000 startup. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on?

    New information

I attached an external monitor this morning and the portion of the boot where the sreen is white is the initial stage where teh Windows 2000 screen logo is displayed. Apparently the video card is not set properly to display the logo. Can anyone suggest a fix? The system eventually boots up nad the display works correctly. I am posting this message using the laptop.

This all started following a BIOS update to the A23 level.

When "white screen" occurs during boot, close the laptop panel and re-open.

This turns off the LCD panel, and then turns it back on when opened.

It solved the problem and allowed me to operate the machine normally...
