Cannot remember configuration password

Hi All,

I am having Dell Latitude C400, I dont remember my "Configuration Password" so i am unable to modify any bios setting, is there any way to reset the Configuration password? This is urgent as i am having a lot of problem with my pc. I contacted Dell Technical support and after waiting for 25mins been told that my laptop is still registered on the previous owner and won't be able to transfer on my name until i show proof of purchase. They asked me to buy a new one from them. My laptop is only a year old...?? If anyone could help me I would appreciate that. Thanx

Get a hold of the original owner and have them transfer ownership to you. Othr than that you have a door stop.

The Configuration and Admin Password are exactly the same. You use it first to Enable Configure Setup and then again to Disable the Admin Password. If you do not remember the Admin Password, then you are out of luck unless you can satisfy Dell about ownership.
