CD Burner Issues
So I bought a Dell laptop, huge mistake! Nothing but trouble since I've had it. Anway....I tried to burn a cd and my program said that the cd was burned successfully. When I tried to play the disc, it was blank. I figured that it was a one time thing but I've burned five since and the same thing. I've tried a couple of different programs (Nero 7 & Easy CD Creator) and the same thing. My cd rom drive reads cd's and dvds it just won't burn then. I have an Inspiron 1501 with Win Vista. It's only about a year old but of course, all my problems started when the warranty ran out.
Anyone have suggestions as to what the problem may be and how I can fix it???

possible problems.
1 - Software Problem
nero 7 is kinda old version and maybe it doesn't recognise the kind of cd-dvd you have to burn.
may i suggest you try another burning software
http://www.burnaware.com/
it is freeware so no problems with registration.
2 - Disc - drive compatibility
try another brand of discs and/or try burning at a slower speed
3 - Driver problem
have you installed anything that could affect the driver for the recorder?
(it doesn't hurt to check device manager for you recorder)
try disabling the recorder from device manager, then restarting, allowing windows to 'find' it again
4 - Drive problem
you can't do anything for it really. last resort, try blowing inside the drive bay, just in case something is stuck on the laser beam (dust-hair etc)

If it won't play in the system used to create it, replace the CD drive.
