Deciding Between Two Laptops
Hey. I'm Chuck.
At the moment, I sit here typing this post with an old Dell Inspiron E1505 with a 1GB RAM and an 80GB HDD. I got it when I was so young I don't even know the other specs.
But rejoice! I'm getting a new laptop. And for about two years I've had my eye on the Alienware M15x. It has been my dream laptop, fitted with a 4GB RAM, a 500GB HDD, an Intel i5 processor and a 1GB video card, among other things. It totals somewhere in the upper 1780's. But just tonight I was looking at the Dell XPS Studio series, mainly because I was bored. I threw together a customization for an XPS 16 with an 8GB RAM, 600-something HDD (memory a bit fuzzy), Intel i7 processor, and still a nice 15.6 inch screen. It totaled about 15 dollars less then my Alienware M15x customization, and it seemingly has more bang for my buck.
I'm torn between what seems to be more bang for my buck and my dream laptop. What do you recommend?
Thank you for the help.

Oops, sorry about that. I meant to add that.
I'll be doing a tad bit of gaming, but mainly editing videos and creating effects as well as some 3D rendering and writing reports. Not to mention a lot of C++ programming.

Without knowing what you plan to run on the system, it's impossible to make any recommendation.
