Dell E6420 HDMI audio problem

I have DELL Lattitude E6420 laptop with windows 8 installed on it .

I am trying to connect it to Panasonic TV with HDMI cable , Video is displayed correctly but I cant here audio through HDMI.

IDT drivers are installed & updated.

It shows me two HDMI audio devices in controle panel but it shows that "not connected", so i cant make it as default device.

Tried to uninstall & reinstall but no luck.

Any way out ???????

Out of curiosity udeshpande.. You said you got IDT audio drivers for your Latitude E6420...

Where ? Not the official Dell drivers right ?

Because, here, (Service Tag Service tag removed per privacy policy>.. for my E6420) .. www.dell.com/.../ Service tag removed per privacy policy> , and filtering on Win 8 64bit.. no 'Audio' dropdown presents itself...

I have this problem as well and also have an E6420 w/ Win 7 x64. It's not the IDT sound driver that controls the HDMI, it's the Intel video/audio HD 3000 that controls the HDMI output video and sound.

    PROBLEM:

I've found the problem is encountered when updating video drivers with that of the Intel site and not of the Dell site.

Many laptop manufacturers integrate video card chips onto motherboards in a proprietary method.

Unlike, an AGP, PCI-Express, card that fits into your desktop motherboard and conforms to strict standards, the laptop manufacturer has tested their particular motherboard/video system to work with their said OS and released drivers. There is no guarantee that the latest Intel drivers will be available for your system, or worse and OS upgrade.

    SOLUTION:

    1) Download the Dell video driver for your E6420, HD 3000 from http://dell.com/support

    2) Remove the Intel software. In my case using CCleaner, it was something called "Intel(R) Processor Graphics" and perform a Restart.

    3) Install Dell Intel HD 3000 drivers from Dell.

    4) TEST

    NOTES:

The below Dell tech "Appu S" provides a useless suggestion, it's not Recording we are concerned with, it's Playback.
