Dell Latitude D820 Display Make/Model
I'm looking to purchase a Latitude D820 but am curious to know if Dell is using Samsung or LG/Philips displays. I've heard many horror stories about the Samsung displays so I'd hate to have problems with it as soon as I receiving it knowing this information. I read that Dell is now using the LG/Philips displays so I'd like to confirm this.

- You have no way to tell, and no way to request - either with Dell or with Sony. Sony doesn't even assemble its own computers - they're built by outside contractors (mostly Quanta and Compal).
With any of them, it's the luck of the draw. - They use panels from both manufacturers, plus others (QDI, AU Optronics). You won't know what you've got until the system arrives.
On the contrary to what you've heard, the Samsung panels have been fairly trouble-free. The LG-Philips ones are developing a bad reputation for developing single pixel faults. - ejn63,Thanks for the info. It really made me make up my mind about what to do with my new laptop purchase. I looked into it further and figured it would just be crazy going into something knowing that it's very likely that you're going to have problems with your choice.This is for Dell,I'm not trying to promote another laptop manufacturer here but your screen/video quality issues with your Latitude series have made me choose a similar notebook from HP (nc8430) which has nothing but good reviews. You should realize that competent people do read reviews and base their decision based on those reviews and when you have a product that uses cheap parts (especially for your business customers), it will do nothing but hurt your reputation. I was a previous Dell customer but now have opted to go with a different manufacturer.
