DELL WEB PC DRIVERS

Hi,
I'm having the same problem as most people with the dell web pc.
After installing win98, there are several unrecognized devices, the modem among them.
I've downloaded what few drivers dell had; video, sound, and combo. And I've absolutely have given finding a restore disc.
Does anyone with a restore disc know if they can extract just the driver portion of the disc, or is it just one big image? All I know is that a Web PC shouldn't be this hard to load a functioning OS.

Am I to understand that installing the driver for the modem did not fix the problem that you are having with this device? If so then try removing the device from the device manager and rebooting the system. Let windows identify and reinstall this device. See if that fixes the problem.

4 or 5 of those devices are for the E-Support button on the front of the web PC . The only place to get the drivers for that are on the restore cd.

NT-Loser  Did you ever get the 3cn3bm556  (NOT B!!!!)   modem driver for windows 2k or xp???????

I have been pulling my hairt out on one of these for 2 weeks.   EVERYTHING i find is either for a 3cn3ac556 or a 3cn3bm556b   which neither work for.    The windows 98 driver works up unti it actually tries to comfirm it and then 2k and XP tell me "This driver does not support this OS"  and I am back to square one.

    HELP!!!!!

I tried everything to get the drivers to work for that 3com modem.
Under XP and 2k, I tried several different driver versions of the XP/2K drivers as well as modified the ID string in the inf file but the modem was unusabe. I ended up getting rid of my modem only card and got a 3com Ethernet/Modem Mini PCI combo. Windows XP has native driver support for this device. SEE HERE http://bellsouthpwp.net/p/a/paljoey7/PC/xpdrv.JPG

Unfortunately the E support button drivers are not installed.

I have kinda stopped messin' with the Web PC since I got an Xbox and found you could add ram, install Linux, play the games and backup games to boot,(copies).

In a fairly strange twist of fate I just stumbled on another older post that points right to the valid "any windows" drivers and was successful in getting it to work under xp pro sp1a

no, I meant the modem card.   well again, thank you for the quick response.  I see your name on here often and it helps to know some people are still active here.

Thanks. I no longer need the modem drivers as XP has the native support for the modem combo card.

Or are you saying you found XP drivers for the web support button?
