Dell's Horrible Customer Service

I realize I'm not going to get any direct help for my problem here, just wanted to report it and continue to spread the word about Dell's horrible customer service. Like many on this forum, I've been a happy Dell customer for many years (since ~ 1992). I purchased a refurb e6400 that i've been relatively happy with until recently, when it started to randomly crash, hang, and render BSODs without warning, eventually becoming non-operational. Chatted with Support.

Their first diagnosis was a faulty hard drive (error code 2000-0142), OR a problem with the system board if that error is rendered using different hard drives. The latter was my case, and support rep ___ agreed with me. She setup a return for replacement of the system board, which I have recorded in the chat log. Sent the machine back. Dell didn't do anything, refused to do the work they promised, waited 2 weeks, then sent me the machine back. The problem is still present.

I've already filed a complaint with the BBB, and will be doing the same with the State Attorneys General in WA and TX. I suggest you do the same when something goes wrong with your current hardware. Dell no longer gives a rat's testicles about customer service or retention. I will make sure to take whatever business I can away from them.

Sincerely,

wbrproductions

I am curious as to what Dells grounds were for not fixing it.... If the machine was under warranty, did they say the damage was caused by the user or did they just totally not realize there was a problem?

    Lawyer thing? No comprende.

Good for you. I'm also a results-oriented person.

I'm guessing most State attorneys general are lawyers. Doubt they're much into fixing laptops.

    Hi Wbrproductions,

Sorry to hear about that. Wow, very frustrating.

Although I can understand why you'd contact the BBB, that's not helping get your laptop fixed. So my suggestion would be to escalate the problem through the unresolved issues channel. Certainly, given your circumstances and the fact that it's already been sent to Dell, this should elevate the problem to someone with more authority to get the repair completed. I really think that's the fastest path forward.

Of course, keep up the lawyer thing but I myself am a results-oriented person. :emotion-3:

    Good luck!

Osprey, you're missing the point completely, but whatever.

Dell's dispute resolution organization is supposedly setting up a repair appointment at my location, will report back what actually occurs.
