display setting

i just purchased a inpirion 1505 notebook. i was wondering why my display setting changes either when i reboot or when i put it in sleep mode and come back? the icons become very large. please let me know if you know what is going on. thank you for your time.

    Probably there is a bug with the video driver.     I just purchased an Inspiron E1705 notebook in March 2007 and I'm having the same problems with my display settings.  Dell tech support has been unable to troubleshoot this issue.  Any suggestions or fixes??
