Failing hard drive?
Hello! A few months ago my laptop ( dell, inspiron 3521) ran into a few hardrive errors. So we replaced with a brand new £60 sandisk one. However, the laptop continued having problems on login (either freezing when putting in password, or freezing at the start screen). I have run diagnostics and received error code 2000-0142. Upon research, this would indicate a failing hardrive, however this ones brand new.. So I questioned a little bit. Upon the error being found the laptop starts to play a little tune of just 3 notes, that can only be described on this as ___________-----------------*******************------------------_____________ I've seen a few YouTube videos on viruses, and this feature was common in quite of few of them. I don't want to buy another new hard drive or a completely new laptop. I just want some answers. Please help :(

Hi Willa_Tron,
2000-0142 error indicates the hard drive is faulty or it’s a failing hard drive you would need to replace the hard drive on the system. Please backup the data from the system if it’s booting up. As the hard drive should be covered under warranty please go for a replacement from the manufacturer. If the hard drive is purchased from Dell private message us with the Dell order number.
