Inspiron 8600 reinstallation problem
Try to install xp pro from cd, find one file cannot be coppied in the middle so the process stopped. Try to reinstall the Dell's windows cd, the same thing happen. Since both cds work fine in other laptop, could I say something is wrong with the CDRW/DVD drive or hard disk? It's brand new laptop, so everything could happen on arrival.

- So you used the Windows XP CD that came with your computer. Did you choose to repair or to install a new copy of windows XP? What is tha name of the file where it stops?
To see if your HDD is good, you can run Dell Diagnostics. Boot from the Dell provided Driver CD, the graphical diagnostics program will appear. Run all the HDD tests and see what it says. - Although I haven't done the diagnostic to check hdd, I did find another problem with the cdrw drive. I tryed to copy a data cd to the hdd, it can read well and start to copy, then it stoped in the middle and poped up an redunduncy error message. I even tryed to copy the whole cd from dell which is definetely a good cd, and the same thing happened. Since there is no problem with cd itself, it should suggest the cdrw drive is malfuctioning, right?
