i have a latitude D610 that was passed on to me from a friends friend. i had to download most of the drivers & upgrades to get it in workin condition. for audio purposes i downloaded the sigmatel driver which workd pretty fine. but then the microphone wouldnt work at all. the worst part is that in the main volume control window i dont have the microphone volume control either, which is quite worrying. when i try to voice chat with my headfones n mic i can hear the person on the other end but all they hear is static now and then. i tried doing a diagnostics check to see if my laptop recognised/accepted the mic that i used(as suggested by jim in some old post) but it wouldnt work either as i needed to have the original installation CD (which i dont as the laptop aint mine) being a student in france & with family back home in india, voice chats are the only way to keep in touch, & thus essential!! could you please suggest something? do i need special drivers for the mic? or could it be a problem with the jack, n which case what would be the solution? i sincerely hope to find an answer to this problem. thanx a million, Prutha
