Latitude E6410 Screen Edge Flickering

I bought my husband a Dell Latitude E6410 for his birthday from Dell's Refurbished store on e-Bay. I made the purchase on 01/23/2014, so we've had the laptop less then 3 months. All was working great... until today.

The screen is showing a faint flicker around the edges of the screen. When it comes off from standby or screensaver mode it is worse... but slowly fades to a faint flicker. What is wrong with our laptop? I've moved the angle of the screen and rebooted... it still continues to do it. The faint flicker never stops.

I will have to try this when it occurs again... it suddenly stopped within the last 30 minutes.

I am going to be very angry if my husband's laptop has an LCD issue too. I just finished going through a month long ordeal with Dell over my Alienware M17X R4  that was 14 months old at the time of its LCD issue. It took Dell and a subcontracted Technician 1 month to repair my laptop properly.

Rebooted the Latitude and the problem returned... So I tried the following:

    1. Reinstalled Nvidia drivers - persists.
    2. Entered BIOS - persists.
    3. Attached external monitor - flickering on edges of screen did not persist. However, it is showing horizontal flickering lines across the length of the screen that the laptop doesn't show.
    4. Ran Diagnostics - did not persist... and all tests passed.

So now what does that mean?

    Hi AVignati,

Please check if the issue persists in BIOS Setup menu as well.

To open BIOS menu. Turn off system > Turn on System > Tap F2 on Dell Logo.

If the issue persist in BIOS as well, connect your system to an external display.

If it works properly on external display, it is an issue with system LCD.

You can perform diagnostics to confirm the issue with system LCD.

To perform disgnostics > Turn Off system > press and hold Fn key and turn on system.

Diagnostics would start and show different colors. Check if the issue persists there as well.

Please let us know the details so that we can help you.

    Thanks & Regards
