latitude trackpoint won't work...............

Mouse keys work, touchpad works.......trackpoint doesn't.
It used to 2 weeks ago.
I have the latest driver from Synaptic................I think.
Any suggestions...............BTW, I really don't want to take the keyboard apart.
In the settings panel "enable trackpoint" is inactive (grayed out)

    You say it is grayed out from within Control Panel. Download the latest Mouse driver for the laptop and allow it to overwrite everything and see if this reenables it. If not then I would go into the BIOS to see if the touchpad was disabled in there.

    If neither of the above works for you then remove the keyboard and check the cable, or get a new keyboard.
