M17x R4. Battery power start up problems

Hi,

this is my problem, my alienware will not start on battery, no power light when i power up. When i power up using my power lead everything works ok. I can then remove the power lead and my alienware stays powered up with no problems. I get no bleeps at all. Im also unable to restart unless i have my power lead connected.

I have been onto Dell Support, done all the battery checks and updated my bios from v11 to v12. Still the same fault.

Dell Support is now closed until tomorrow. Just thought i would ask if anyone else has had this problem and resolved it /

    Hi SpursYid,

    You may reset BIOS to defaults. Please follow the steps below:

    • Power on the system and tap at the ‘Dell’ logo
    • Press on the ‘System Setup Utility’ screen and then press ‘Enter’
    • Press to ‘Save Changes and Exit’ and press ‘Enter’ again

    Please check and share the status of AC adapter listed under ‘Main’ and ‘Battery Health’ listed under ‘Advanced’ in BIOS. Also let me know the battery status in Windows.

    Hi,

    thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this never resolved the issue.

    Plus, although im running in battery mode now. I put my alienware to sleep, the power light is illuminated ok, but when i press it, it seems like the power light fades under a drain condition. I have to now put the power lead back in and it powers up ok ......

    Hi,

    Ive contacted Dell again this morning. A Techician is coming to my house on Tuesday 30th to replace my motherboard.

    i think if it is in warranty than must replace it because battery never been solved..
